Magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Philippines

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake was recorded in Northern Luzon around 1.28pm. According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology that it was tectonic in origin with a depth of 160 kilometers.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued no tsunami threats exist but expect the aftershocks.



The earthquake considered as "moderately strong" with an Intensity IV. The following areas where affected to the said quake: Nasugbu, Calatagan, and Balayan in Batangas; Calapan, Sablayan, and Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro; cities of Manila, Parañaque, Pasig, and Taguig in Metro Manila; Maragodon, Noveleta, and Dasmariñas in Cavite; Floridablanca, Pampanga; Olongapo City; and Subic and Iba, Zambales.
